Treehoo
is the worlds first green and eco-friendly search engine started (as
Heropeople.com) in March of 2008, with the idea of using some of the ad
and retail sales revenues of the
internet to fight
global warming and climate change.
By using our search engine, free e-mail and music service you can
easily contribute to the global cause for free. If you make your
purchases on Amazon.com and Allposters.com through our site you are
also helping the environment with every product you buy.
50 % of our net profit goes to plant trees worldwide as we
believe it to be the best way to capture CO2 from the atmosphere. Trees
are natural air filters and for the moment they are the most (and
only) effective resource we have for this task. We plant our trees
together with the U.S. non profit organisation "Trees for the Future"
and so far we have planted more than 10.000 trees.
Our idea is to use some of the remaining 50 % of the profit to develop
Treehoo to a complete web portal, so far and thanks to our investors we
are capable of offering our own
search engine and free e-mail and music services, as well as different
stores where you can purchase everything from books and music to
clothes or jewelry.
The
predicted global Internet ad and retail sale
revenues
for 2009 were more than 350 billion U.S.$,
imagine just a tiny bit of that sum invested into our environment. The
possibilities are unimaginable and its free of charge!
Treehoo
was founded by Pedro Bentancour Garin, Ph.D. student at the University
of Stockholm, it is a Swedish corporation and has its headquarters in
Stockholm.
Treehoo has been chosen as one of the top 10 global sustainable
innovations by Globe Forum and has also been chosen as participant in
the "Globe Forum Facilitator Program",
